PILOT FIELD EVALUATION · POLYMER MANUFACTURING

Up to 30% improvement
in build height.

A field evaluation covering 12 industrial production plans explored better utilization of the same build space.

The need

Complex parts in different quantities had to fit a fixed build area. Tall manual layouts prompted the question of whether a different arrangement could use the available volume more effectively.

The approach

Placement searches used part models and production quantities. Alternative arrangements were compared to explore lower heights on the same build area. Total placement height was the main comparison metric.

Comparison reported in the presentation

Manual placement
560–590 mm
Nesting Solver
420–450 mm

These ranges come from the pilot field presentation. The reported 30% is the highest build-height improvement in the evaluation; it has not been presented as a time or cost percentage.

Contribution to production planning

A lower layout creates an opportunity to plan fewer layers. Its effect on machine time and cost depends on material, process, scan time and production conditions.
